GENERAL TERMS

General

The Competitions of Golf will be run in accordance with the most recent Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A Rules Limited, the United States Golf Association and in accordance with the Local Rules approved by the FISU Technical Committee Chair. In the events of a disagreement on the interpretation of the rules, the English text will be regarded as authoritative.

Eligibility

All players must be a National of the country which the player is representing as defined in the FISU’s Nationality Policy.
All players nominated to teams by their national federations must be amateur golfers in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Status of the R&A and the United States Golf Association and have a handicap of nine or less when entering the World University Championship.
At the first General Technical Meeting, the Head of Delegation or his/her representative shall confirm and sign the official list of players.
Any entry not duly confirmed at the first General Technical Meeting, will not be taken into consideration except for force majeure.

Format

The programme and duration of competitions are fixed by FISU in agreement with the Organising
Committee and the WUC ITC. The competitions shall last four days and include the following events:
• Men’s team competition (72 holes – stroke play)
• Women’s team competition (72 holes – stroke play)
• Men’s individual competition (72 holes – stroke play)
• Women’s individual competition (72 holes – stroke play)
The event will be played over 72 holes stroke-play: 18 holes each day for the four consecutive days of the event.
Each country may enter a maximum of six players.
In each event, each country may enter:

Men:

• Team event: the two best results each day shall count for the team classification per day;
• Individual event: three players;

Women:

• Team event: the two best results each day shall count for the team classification per day;
• Individual event: three players.

 

Minimum of 36 Holes

In no circumstances will the Championship be extended beyond the fourth day. The winner will be the Team/Individual which returns the lowest score for the number of stipulated rounds played, except that, if it is not possible to play at least 36 holes, the Championship will be terminated without a Champion being determined.

Practice Rounds

Practice round schedules will be allocated by the Championship Committee; requests for specific times/courses will not be accepted. Teams missing their assigned practice round times will not be permitted to play at another time unless there are exceptional circumstances, in which case any changes must be approved by the Committee in advance. Please note that it will not be considered exceptional circumstances if players/teams choose to travel on practice round days. Further, if inclement weather causes delay or cancellation of a practice round, that round will not be re-scheduled.
