VENUE

ROYAL PARK I ROVERI

THE CLUB

Founded in 1971 by the Agnelli family, the club was created with an 18-hole course entirely designed by the famous architect Robert Trent Jones Senior and inaugurated in the same year. Even today, the Allianz Course is known for having hosted numerous great tournaments including four Italian Open and two European Amateur Team Championships. In 2006, the project was completed on the second course, the Allianz Bank Course designed by architects Micheal Hurdzan and Dana Fry, transforming the club into a 36-hole golf club.
As of January 2019, completing the development projects is the Edoardo Molinari Golf Academy, named after the professionale player of the European Tour. Together with his brother Francesco, Edoardo was the winner of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in 2009 and the Ryder Cup in 2010.

THE POSITION

An evocative location makes Royal Park I Roveri unique in Europe: surrounded by the Olympic Alps and immersed in the La Mandria Natural Park, the club is just a short walk from the Reggia di Venaria Reale, the largest of the Savoy residences of considerable architectural and cultural importance, built in 1651 for the hunting parties of Duke Charles Emmanuel II. On the outskirts of the city of Turin, Italy’s first capital, the club has easy access to the airports of Turin Caselle and Milan Malpensa, thus achieving a perfect balance between nature and modern comfort.
In the La Mandria reserve area, natural factors such as latitude and altitude, as well as the proximity to the mountain range, make the climate almost optimal, with hardly any windy days. Temperatures from April to October favour pleasant play and allow you to enjoy the majestic landscapes along the courses.

PRACTICE FACILITIES

DRIVING RANGE
Completely redesigned in 2019, the driving range covers an area of 30,000 square metres and is equipped with 50 stations, 18 of which are indoor on synthetic grass.
The facility features a large natural grass area on three levels and includes several target greens, baskets, poles and many others used as reference points to make the exercise more effective and enjoyable.
With an extension of 300 metres in length and 120 in width, even the longest players are able to practice all the 14 clubs in their bag.
PUTTING GREEN AND SHORT GAME AREA
Inside the Royal Park I Roveri there are two large Putting Greens, one of which, at the foot of the Club House, is floodlit. The latter, characterised by a very large surface, has been designed and built to offer the player every imaginable length and slope. The lower section is the steepest, while the upper section tends to be flat. Both putting greens reflect the speed of the greens of our two courses.
The two short games areas, including the more extensive newly constructed one, have been designed to allow all possible shots around the green, inspired by the more strategic short game areas on the European Tour.

COURSES

Alianz Course by Trent Jones Sr.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior in 1971, the year the Club was founded, the course is characterised by a decidedly innovative use of bunkers as well as a layout of greens and water hazards that stimulates a more careful game strategy.
The Allianz Course is regularly ranked among the top 50 golf courses on the continent and the numerous great tournaments organised, including the European Young Masters, the European Amateur Team Championship and the Italian Open of the European Tour, are a concrete testimony to this.

Allianz Bank Course by Hurdzan - Fry

Designed in 2006, the second course bears the signature of architect Michael Hurdzan, father of some of the best courses in North America and international speaker on the subject of the environmental impact of golf. The collaboration was with a woman: Dana Fry. This was the first time she had ever designed a course in Europe, and she brought her philosophy to bear in harmonising the unspoilt natural landscape with the course.

The design intent was not to match the more mature Allianz Course by Trent Jones Sr. but rather complement it through a relatively flat open course where the constructed ponds and bunkering are used as principle hazards.
